It's time for a new sail!

Sun does the most residual damage to a sail and the effects are not reversible. Tears and rips at the seems are tell-tale signs of UV damage while tears and fraying of suncovers may not require new sails. Suncovers are meant to be "sacrificial" as a way to save the sails. Bring your sails in for a check-over to see if you are in need of repairs, maintenance, or new sails.
